Welcome [back] to another week of your weekly dose 🎶
Every Tuesday, I’ll be sharing tips, updates, and must-know music marketing insights to help you get your music heard!
By Finch Bergling
This week's newsletter is sponsored by... me 😀
I would like to introduce you to "More Than Streams 🧩" - the weekly music marketing podcast that will teach you how to get, you guessed it, more than streams.
Listen to the most relevant music marketing tips, case studies, interviews, and everything you need to grow your music career.
Today's episode - "How I Use AI to Save Hours on My Music Marketing"
The Last Weekly Dose
So the era of information is basically over.
For the last few years, I made a living teaching musicians how to do things.
How to write a good pitch, how to make a music video, how to run ads. I'd take that knowledge, package it into a guide, and sell it.
But something changed.
Yesterday I took one of those guides, the one about writing a good pitch, and in about 20 minutes I turned it into a tool that writes the pitch for you.
I used to spend hours making a single music video, and now I have a tool I built in a day that makes music and lyric videos for me [soon it will be released!!!].
You can build ads with AI. You can run whole ad campaigns with AI (I don't do it, but some agencies and musicians do.)
There's one thing worth keeping in mind though.
A person doing the work by hand will usually give you something a bit better. But AI can already get you something as good as the $100 service you'd pay for on Fiverr, and for a lot of musicians, that's more than enough.
And it's moving faster than I expected. This past week, Claude gave people access to a new model called Fable 5, and I honestly can't explain how capable it is.
I feel like AI is going to make smarter marketing decisions than most marketers pretty soon.
So you have two options. You can fight it, or you can use it. And the musicians who use it are the ones who will have the advantage.
I want to be clear about one thing though. I will never support using AI to replace human artists or to generate your music for you. AI should help you with your marketing, not make your art.
But if you're a musician who can't afford to hire an artist or a marketer right now, then using AI for your marketing makes complete sense. It's better than nothing, and sometimes it can be as good as everything.
Because of all of this, I'm changing a lot about how I work.
For the last 3 years my business leaned heavily on selling information.
Now I'm moving toward more high-tier client work and building AI tools that actually help musicians. It feels like the right move, and I'm excited about it.
There's something else I've been wanting to tell you.
I started the Weekly Dose about a year and a few months ago. The name was something I came up with on the spot, and it always felt a bit generic to me. So from now on, The Weekly Dose is becoming More Than Streams Newsletter.
I finally have an agency and a proper brand name behind it (only took me 3 years lol).
And I need a small favor from you.
I can see how many people open these emails, but I have no idea how many people read all the way through. So if you read this newsletter every week, please reply and let me know 🙏🏻.
That feedback means a lot to me. Are you enjoying getting a newsletter from me every Tuesday? Tell me what you think.
One more thing before I go.
I put 5 free tools on my website that you can use right now, no payment and no sign-up needed.
→ Content Buddy - upload the first few frames of your video and get quick feedback on your hook before you post it.
→ Song Release Checklist - set your release date and it lays out every step before and after, so nothing slips through.
→ Streaming Royalty Calculator - type in your stream count and see what it's worth on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music, country by country.
→ Playlist Promotion - a directory of playlist curators I personally trust, in your genre, with how to submit to each one (no bots, no fake streams).
→ Song Pitch Generator - it writes you a personalized pitch for playlists and blogs, one per day (this is the pitch tool I mentioned earlier).
You can find all five here.
Thanks for being here for the Weekly Dose. I'll see you as More Than Streams 🍾
