I would like to introduce you to "More Than Streams 🧩" - the weekly music marketing podcast that will teach you how to get, you guessed it, more than streams.
Listen to the most relevant music marketing tips, case studies, interviews, and everything you need to grow your music career.
Today's episode - "Music Marketing, Playlists & Building Fans, Live From Vietnam w/ Jon Gilman (The Racket House)"
So AI did something amazing and kind of scary at the same time. It gave musicians a way to save time on marketing, so they can spend more of their energy on the part that matters, which is making music that a human made.
There are tools now that build a full ad campaign for you, get you placed on playlists, and spit out hundreds of pieces of content, all in a few minutes.
A lot of musicians are tempted to use them, and honestly, if you have zero time and zero money, they might be a decent starting point. But the results you get from them are nowhere near what you'd get doing the work yourself. When you pay almost NOTHING for content, the content usually performs like it.
So I'm not going to pretend everyone can afford better. If your only two options are paying $20 for a tool that makes you 100 videos or making no videos at all, then yes, make the 100 videos.
But today I want to show you a third option that's cheaper and works better. All you need is CapCut Pro.
You might be wondering why I'd pick CapCut over the faster all-in-one tools like TheFlowStage. There are a few reasons:
→ It has way more filters and effects.
→ It doesn't cap how many videos you can make in a month.
→ The monthly subscription is cheaper overall.
→ You keep FULL control over your editing.
→ And the stock photo and video library is much bigger.
So here's how to make 9 pieces of content in about 10 minutes with CapCut Pro.
First, this is one of the videos I made for the band FVNERAL for their new song 'Landline'.
I used their performance clip, but you can use anything, a clip from CapCut's own library, or even a scene from a popular movie you find on YouTube.
You take that clip and you chop three different parts of the song out of it.
Then in CapCut you go to 'Caption' and then 'Auto Lyrics', and it generates the lyrics on screen for you automatically.
Just go through and fix them by hand, because CapCut gets the words wrong sometimes.
After that, you pick a special lyric effect for each clip. You click on the lyrics, go to 'Text', and choose a template.
Now you have 3 clips with 3 different lyric styles on screen, which gives you 9 pieces of content from one video. You render each one separately, one by one. To set where a clip starts and stops, you hit 'i' to mark the start point and 'o' to mark the end point.
What I just walked you through would have cost you more than $20 a month across different AI platforms.
Learning to do it well might take you a few weeks, sometimes a few months. But once you get the hang of it, you'll get far better results at the same speed those "fast and easy" tools promise you.
So, are you going to give it a try? Reply with a yes or a no and let me know.
Your Weekly Reel Idea
The new concept dominating IG right now is yapping, which I noticed a lot from my American friends [shoutout to Liz, hi Liz].
You simply talk to the camera excessively about trivial matters, and it works because people can easily relate to it.
So in this example, a musician yaps about the IG algorithm, saying "tell me why we have 5,000 followers and we just posted a teaser and it got no traction". It's a perfect way to get new people interested in you, your music, and your personality.

By Finch Bergling Your Weekly Tip Here's something most musicians never notice about how record labels operate. Labels promote songs, sure. But the smart ones put just as much money into building playlists. Here's why that matters for you. A song gets one moment to win someone over. A playlist can bring that same person...
