This week's newsletter is sponsored by... me 😀

I would like to introduce you to "More Than Streams 🧩" - the weekly music marketing podcast that will teach you how to get, you guessed it, more than streams.

Listen to the most relevant music marketing tips, case studies, interviews, and everything you need to grow your music career.

Today's episode - "How to Build a Brand That Gets You Noticed w/ Jon Gilman (The Racket House)"

Your Weekly Tip

Something I tell every musician I start working with: you are going to release a lot of songs in your career.

More than you think.

And at some point, probably sooner than you expect, you are going to have a release where something goes... Wrong 😐

The budget runs out before the campaign is ready. Something unexpected happens the week you planned to launch. You're dealing with something personal, or you burned out from the last release and you don't have it in you to go all in again.

Every musician I've worked with has been through some version of this.

And the ones with a playlist already running always had something working for them, even when the release itself didn't go as planned.

A playlist keeps growing during wars, deaths, and all the other unexpected things that happen in our lives.

(By the way, a lot of you ask me "so how do I grow a playlist this way" - so I created a new $1 training to show you exactly how.)

A playlist promotion campaign runs every single day, growing your Spotify followers, sending the genre signals that get your music onto Discover Weekly and Release Radar, and building an audience that is already there when you release something new.

You don't have to activate it around every release. It keeps working either way.

And if you do have the budget and energy for a bigger push around a specific song, you don't need to build a whole new campaign from scratch.

You increase the playlist budget for that week, and the machine you already have running does more. The foundation is already there.

I started working with a new musician two weeks ago. When we began, he had under 100 Spotify followers.

Today, he has over 600.

...Imagine what that number looks like at the end of the year, when every new song he releases has 500, then 1,000, then 5,000 people already seeing it on Release Radar.

Here's his playlist - it features his own music, bringing him hundreds of listeners every month. Once it reaches 1,000 saves this week, he’ll start monetizing it and earn back his investment.

That's the part nobody really talks about when they talk about growing on Spotify.

The musicians who release into a growing audience always have an easier time than those starting from zero with every song.

And the difference between those two situations in 2026 is many times simply a playlist.

If you want to understand how this works and how to set it up, I put together a $1 training that covers exactly that: tips on how to build the playlist, run the campaign, and create something that keeps working for your music whether or not you have the time to promote every release the same way.
