Your Weekly Tip

"You should create ads to promote your music"

"playlists are the #1 marketing strategy in 2026"

"How I Met Your Mother is 100x better than Friends".

And then you're like - Finch, can you please shut up?

Yes, I talk a lot about what you should do, but I should show you more HOW to do it.

Which is why I've prepared some really useful tips to help you create a song promotion campaign that will make your ads ✨shine✨

Because there are so many ads out there, and so many musicians, and you need to make your marketing efforts stand out.

So here are 3 "secrets" that helped me successfully run ad campaigns for my most recent clients.

[quick clarification - when I talk about ads, I mean Meta ads that are shown on Instagram to direct potential listeners to your music on Spotify]

Secret 1 - The filter

You don't get a second chance for a first impression, so the first thing your audience sees in the ad is the visual. Even if you record the song performance in a parking lot, you can make it look 100x better with some editing.

The thing I will never skip is adding a good filter to the video - a good filter can make a HUGE difference in video quality.

I use CapCut Pro Web for all of my editing - it's a couple of dollars a month, and you can cancel after you're done editing your videos.

My favorite filters on CapCut are "Cuisine" and "Focus."

To improve the audio quality, I always tick the "reduce noise" option.

You might think that a filter isn't a "secret," but for some reason I don't see musicians using enough filters, or they're being too gentle with their filter choices.

Make your videos stand out with the right filters, and it will make you and your video look better.

Example: Father Of Peace - a band that uses TONS of filters on their videos, and it makes them look so good. They're dominating social media at the moment.

Secret 2 - The hook

Approximately 85% of users watch social media videos, including Instagram Reels, with the sound off.

Which means you need to make people want to listen to your song without even hearing the song.

A good way to do it, besides having good visuals (read above), is with a great hook - a small sentence over your head that will convince the scroller why they should listen to your song.

Something that works well is a hook that makes the scroller say "this is so me."

The more specific you are, the easier it will make them relate. Not saying "if you like indie pop, listen to my song" but "if you wonder what it feels like to finally move on, I wrote this song for you."

You can try a few different hooks over different visuals and different parts of the song, and with this strategy you'll find that creating 10+ ads to test isn't so hard.

But for the hook - what works every single time is being hyper specific.

Do you know when you see an ad and you're like - how did they know I was just thinking about that?

That's how you want to make them feel. And the Meta algorithm will find the right people for you - trust me.

Secret 3 - The audience

Well, yes, I just said "the Meta algorithm will find the right people for you - trust me" - but let's not give it 100% control 😅

Once you have the ads, it's time to create the campaign.

I always turn off any advantage AI option Meta offers and try to do everything manually.

You can do it by clicking here and limiting the reach of your ads.

So once you've gained full control, I usually use this template to build my audience:

People interested in Spotify + People interested in a genre/artists + People interested in something that defines them

And the third one is what sets my ads apart.

When I promoted the song for my recent client, which was about healing and rebirth, I felt like this targeting would be perfect for her audience.

And since in the ad's hook I talked about healing, the combination was perfect and led to outstanding results.

From here, Meta will find the people who will say "how the heck did this ad find me? This song is so me."

And those are my 3 methods of making ads that will get your music heard.

I break down step by step how I do it, with video tutorials, inside my program Your First Hit Song 2026.

I show how I built a campaign for a song that reached 100k streams in a couple of weeks.

Have you ever tried any of those 3 methods and saw better results? Reply to this email and share with me! I'd love to read your experience.

I love running ads, and I'm always very excited to see the results - I want the same for you!

Good luck with this (:

Your Weekly Reel Idea

Ragebait - content designed to provoke strong reactions - especially anger - to drive engagement like clicks, comments, and shares.

And this does it perfectly: “Did ____ steal my song?” Most of the time, the songs sound nothing alike - which is exactly why it gets people talking.
